Boreal Orchards

Boreal Orchards® is an EcoTech company developing innovative solutions to address timely challenges in climate adaptation, urban greening, and ecosystem restoration. We accelerate ecological restoration of post mining landscapes and of degraded lands using cultivated native moss and lichens. With re:moss Boreal Orchards developed a technology embedded concept to cost-effectively grow selected native moss species in large scale and to use this moss for restoring areas disturbed by human activities like industrial sites, post-mining landscapes, roads and infrastructure, for post-fire rehabilitation, or to slowdown and reverse desertification by facilitating biocrust restoration. Within symbios we focus on innovative solutions to restore reindeer lichens across Fennoscandia and North America.

Bostaden

Bostaden is the biggest actor on the Umeå housing market. Through its growth, Bostaden has helped turn Umeå into a city that in many ways is the capital of northern Sweden. We have a great responsibility to reduce our impact on our shared environment. Therefore, it is crucial to increase environmental awareness among both tenants and employees and we set clear environmental requirements for our suppliers and contractors. We believe that the path to our goal goes through knowledge, cooperation and open dialogue. In June 2008, we launched our major environmental project - Environmental Focus 2016 which includes objectives for the five areas: energy use, waste management, transportation, environmental friendly construction materials, knowledge and commitment.

C-Green AB

C-Green is a Swedish technology company developing a cost- and energy-efficient HTC (hydrothermal carbonisation) technology for converting wet sludge classified as waste into dry HTC biochar. The biochar can be used as a biofuel, fertiliser or soil improver. The technology also enables the production of biogas through anaerobic digestion of the separated process water, as well as the recovery of important nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen. The process is particularly well suited to industries and operations where sludge is generated as a residual stream, including wastewater treatment plants, the pulp and paper industry, and the food industry.
