Arevo Introduces Crop Nutrition System to Support Sustainable Yields

Soil degradation, rising fertiliser costs, and climate-related risks are putting pressure on growers across Europe. Umeå-based agtech company Arevo has launched Arginex, a crop nutrition system designed to improve root growth, soil health, and yield predictability.

Improving Crop Nutrition

Traditionally, mineral-based fertilisers have been used widely to boost soil nutrients. However, a significant share of synthetic fertiliser is lost through leaching, contributing to nitrogen runoff, water pollution, and soil degradation. According to the European Environment Agency, 60–70% of EU soil is degraded, threatening both soil health and long-term crop productivity.

Arginex combines arginine, a nitrogen-rich amino acid naturally preferred by plants, with phosphate to create a stable, slow-release compound that reduces nutrient leaching.

“Arevo is built on a molecular-level understanding of crop nutrition. Because it's non-microbial – non living – every batch of Arginex contains the exact same formula. The special formulation keeps the ingredients stable meaning that we can offer consistent performance for growers,” says Niklas Åström, CEO of Arevo.

Proven Performance

Field trials across crops such as corn, potato, and soy have shown measurable improvements in yield and nitrogen use efficiency. By enhancing root architecture and supporting beneficial soil microbes, Arginex helps plants withstand stress caused by climate variability and nutrient shocks.

“The data show that Arginex consistently improves yield and nitrogen use efficiency, delivering more crop per unit of nitrogen even when total fertiliser inputs are reduced”, says Niklas and adds, “that’s predictability in action.”

“This isn’t just another input. It’s a catalyst and a movement for systemic change: sparking a chain reaction that makes the whole system stronger and helps growers transition away from harmful chemicals. Rooted in science, and proven in the fields, Arevo stands for redefining agriculture from the ground up,” concludes Niklas.
