Call for Proposals: Klimatklivet - Spring 2026

Do you have an idea for a physical investment to reduce society's climate impact? You can apply for funding from Klimatklivet!

Klimatklivet is an investment grant supporting local and regional measures that reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other climate-impacting gases. Additional desired effects include the dissemination of new technology, market introduction, improved health and employment, and positive impacts on environmental objectives beyond “Reduced Climate Impact.” Measures that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture are prioritized.

When can you apply?

In 2026, Klimatklivet will have six application rounds. Four are targeted at specific types of investment projects, and two are open calls where you can apply for almost any investment supported by Klimatklivet.

  • Energy conversion: February 2 – February 13
  • Open application round: March 2 – March 20
  • Public charging infrastructure (tender): April 13 – April 30
  • On-farm biogas for electricity and heat: May 25 – June 5

Who can apply?

Funding from Klimatklivet can be applied for by companies, regions, municipalities and municipal companies, associations, foundations, and others. Agricultural businesses are also eligible to apply. Private individuals are not eligible for support through Klimatklivet.

What can you receive funding for?

Previously funded measures include concrete climate investments within areas such as transport, industry, housing, commercial premises, urban development, and energy. Examples include transport solutions, biogas production, nitrous oxide destruction, and replacing oil with district heating.

The measure you apply for must be locally or regionally anchored and aligned with the county’s climate and energy strategy. Measures that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture are prioritized. It is no longer possible to apply for funding for information campaigns under Klimatklivet.

Examples of eligible measures:

  • Phasing out fossil energy
  • Utilizing waste heat
  • Building refueling stations for renewable fuels such as biogas
  • Constructing facilities to increase reuse/recycling of materials and waste
  • Building biogas production facilities
  • Reducing methane or nitrous oxide emissions
  • Installing public EV charging stations
  • Purchasing work machinery with a net power output below 15 kW

Examples of measures within agriculture:

  • Biofuel heating boilers
  • Fossil-free grain dryers
  • Electrically powered pumps for irrigation and manure management
  • Automated electric feeding and manure removal systems
  • Biochar: investments for both production and use
  • Biogas production for fuel or to replace natural gas
