Solar Power, Battery Storage and Fast Charging – A Smarter Energy Solution

OKQ8 and Skellefteå Kraft have launched a joint pilot station in Nacka, Sweden, where solar panels, battery storage and fast charging come together to relieve pressure on the grid and expand access to renewable energy for electric vehicles.

The station uses on-site solar power, stored in batteries and released when needed – enabling fast charging even in areas with limited grid capacity. Skellefteå Kraft is responsible for the investment, operation and maintenance of the infrastructure.

“We’re taking the next step by integrating battery storage that supports the grid. It allows for fast charging even when capacity is limited,” says Magnus Brodin, Business Developer at Skellefteå Kraft.

OKQ8 sees great value in the collaboration – for both customers and the broader energy transition.

“This is an important step toward meeting growing demand and making a real impact in the shift to sustainable transport,” says Helen Axelsson, Director B2B Sales at OKQ8.

The pilot will now be evaluated with the aim of scaling the concept to additional locations.
