Record-breaking international interest in Swedish solutions

Swedish solutions in smart and sustainable cities attract a record number of foreign visitors to Sweden. Smart City Sweden displays over 100 visit objects across the country with solutions in environmental technology, mobility, urban planning, digitization and social sustainability. North Sweden Cleantech is the northernmost node in the project.

The rapidly increasing global urbanization is facing major cities around the world. Within Smart City Sweden, Sweden shows solutions for cities' technical supply systems for energy, water, waste and transport. The platform also demonstrates solutions in urban planning and citizen influence. The goal is to inspire others to do the same - and to export Swedish sustainable and smart solutions.

In total, 1,700 visitors from 55 countries visited the Swedish solutions across the country. Most visitors came from China.

- We are rigged for the great international interest in Smart City Sweden and our Swedish solutions. Together with the authorities 'expertise, regional representatives' local knowledge and experienced business developers, we can support new international collaborations, says Annika Nilsson at the Swedish Energy Agency, who coordinates Smart City Sweden.

The display operations at Smart City Sweden have resulted in projects in China, India and South Korea in areas as urban planning, air quality and water purification.

In 2020, the work will continue to strengthen cooperation with foreign cities which have shown interest in Swedish solutions.
